In the early noughties there was not a Hard House night in London (Tasty, Riot, Mind Over Matter, and Fahrenheit) that at one time or another didn’t have the energised sound of Jon Rundell on the line-up. As his kudos increased a certain Carl Cox stood up and took notice of this emerging talent and Jon was launched into the global arena as part of Carl’s Intec label and provided the warm-up sound for the man himself on numerous World tours. After a 3 year break Intec is back with its Digital Label and they join Lost Dawn for their first UK party on May 14th at Cable. I spoke with the friendly and enthusiastic Jon on a sunlit roof terrace in Kensington . . .
Intec Digital will be putting on its first party in London on the 14th May at Cable, what can you tell us about the night?
Yes, is the first party we are doing of many. I always felt that the label could have done more in this area previously. Its important to us for this to grow organically at the same time however to create a good vibe for people in London that wish to come, make a friendly feel with DJ's from the label they can trust in to give them a good time. For the first party we have Trevor Rockcliffe, a name in London that many will know of, Nicole Moudaber, who has established herself within the city with some great sets and good music, and some bloke called Jon Rundell who I couldn't possibly go on about too much. We have also teamed up with the Lost Dawn people who basically share the same ethos as us in what makes a good experience for people to come to so look out for the extra added touches from them.
So will we be seeing many more Intec Digital nights?
It depends how you would class regularly really. Initially we will remain bi-monthly as the focus really is quality and not quantity. We couldn't do a weekly party as this would basically kill it before it’s started and ask too much of people to come every week I feel. A monthly party would be something for the future perhaps, but I quite like the idea of making each one a real must go to event and doing it bi monthly would help for this.
I heard the first release on Intec Digital “Damager” made by yourself,
helped convince Carl Cox to re-launch the label am I correct?
It was Adam Sheridan and Mark Maitland's track called Tackleface (forthcoming in May) that really prompted things. Damager just dropped in as well and everything seemed to be saying to us that we should release these records.
So Intec is back but only releasing digitally, have you had any problems
with the vinyl police yet, moaning about the good old days of vinyl?
Not as yet but you never know. I think realistically most people have accepted that is not a viable format for most labels now releasing in the kind of world we live in now. I know of some that still release in this way and have a fan base that would like it in this way and that’s great. I’m a vinyl junkie myself, and find that these days I spend my time searching out old rare groove originals and tracks like this for my collection as opposed to dance music.
What other producers inspire you to make music?
Moby was the first person that got me into dance music. I went to an under18's party in my town and the DJ played Go, I loved it and saw everyone else loving it so I asked him what it was and went out and bought it the next day with some money id been given for football subs. I recently got to repay Moby for bringing me into this scene by remixing a record of his, which he liked enough to want to release, a big honour for me to be able to give something back. It’s important to give; there is too much take, take out there.
Do you have a favourite show or memory from any of the shows you have done?
My baptism of fire from years ago always stands out as we were in Melbourne doing a festival, Carl opened the door to arena, I looked out and saw 30,000 people, I asked him if this was where I was playing and he just said yes and to enjoy it. There are some funny pictures of me the 5 minutes before I played with a look that just says pure terror on my face. It went well luckily and Ill never forget it. Another real stand out one was at Government in Toronto last year, amazing club, amazing sound system and an amazing crowd that rocked it all night.
Do you have any plans for the summer any releases or tours you can tell us about?
Intec Digital are hosting a tent at this years Dance Valley in August which is going to be great. We will be at Global Gathering and Space in Ibiza too so keep a look out for these and of course, everyone is welcome to come along Release wise Damager is out now, then the next ones are The Race EP from Marco Bailey, Tackleface by Adam Sheridan & Mark Maitland with some mixes from Cristian Varela, Nicole Moudaber and Lucca, followed by Jim Rivers and Carl Lio to take us into the beginning of autumn.
What is the future for Intec Digital anything on the horizon we should look forward to?
At the moment its more about getting things re-established. There are lots of plans to implement that really think outside the box of what a record label can do and these will come along a bit further down the line as for now its pretty full on getting things going again.
Intec’s ethos was always about discovering original music by new and
upcoming techno artists, have you got any tips on who we should be
listening out for?
We are always looking for the unique tracks and artists out there, it’s something, as you say, that we have always stood for and will always stand for. In terms of current people to look out for I would say Carl Lio of Canada is going to have a good year, he has been making some really good quality tracks for several years and I think he will finally cross over into Europe now. Nicole Moudaber gets a lot of props from us too, again some really good productions and we play pretty much every track that these two make whether we are signing it or not. Id also keep an eye out for Jon Reynolds, Thomas Rubeck and Philthy Phonics, they are all making some really cool deeper tracks.
This is the third Lost Dawn party and the addition of Intec Digital will no
doubt make for a great night in which the Techno and Disco formats will
blend into a creative and experimental night of art and music.

LOST DAWN returns on Friday 14th May with their unique take on electronic music. This party is definitely not one to be missed as they welcome Carl Cox’s newly re-launched record label INTEC DIGITAL to the main room.
Intec Records was established in 1999 by Carl Cox with the view to unearthing original, fresh and exciting techno music from around the world. Over its seven-year history, artists including Marco Bailey, Valentino Kanzyani, Trevor Rockcliffe & Cristian Varela all released music on the label. In 2006 after 7 successful years at the forefront of electronic music, it was decided the doors were to be closed at Intec, Since its close, Carl never stopped receiving new music from budding producers:
“I hadn’t signed anything on Intec for 3 years, but people were still sending me their records,”
Now four years on and Intec has returned, re-born for a new digital market:
“I’m so pleased to be backing this music again. It’s a whole new fresh start,” says Carl. “We’re bringing it back, we’re updating it, but with the same team of people, the same passion for new music and the same philosophy.”
Trevor Rockcliffe
With past releases on Intec and some exciting releases forthcoming on the new digital imprint, we are very pleased to welcome Techno veteran Trevor Rockcliffe to headline the main room. Trevor is a world renowned DJ and Producer of the highest calibre. There are few around with his versatility and pure feel for the funk, being regarded as a leading light by the likes of Carl Cox, Slam and Laurent Garnier.
Nicole Moudaber
With a very exciting Intec Digital remix coming from Nicole Moudaber this summer, we are very happy to have Nicole gracing the Intec Room, whilst being known for delivering distinctly dark and driving music, her sets blend deep techno with groovier sexy rhythms perfect for some main room dance floor action.
Jon Rundell
Jon Rundell has reprised his former role and is once again putting his wisdom and musical prowess back in use at Intec Digital. Jon will be spearheading the night fresh back from another sold out tour of Australia with Carl Cox as he is bound to deliver a storming set filled with Intec material, past, present & future.
Representing LOST DAWN in the second room we have AMELIE, CHAMBOCHE, KR0T00N and residents ADAM SYMBIOSIS & CRAIG GUNN.
AMELIE
Production outfit & DJ’s Sophie Oliver & Claudia Lovisa aka Amelie have had a string of hit tracks on the popular ‘Supernature’ Label, while collaborating with Audiofly and Alex Niggeman. Their ‘Supernature’ radio show on Proton radio alongside John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ series is a must listen and has created a devoted following amongst music fans.
Chamboché
With a number of stellar releases to his name, disco-house prodigy Chamboché has quickly been making a name for himself. His ‘Ipso Facto EP’ released on 'Under The Shade' records includes remixes from The Revenge and Pete Herbert no less, gathering support from such varied artists as Tim Sweeney, Steve Bug and Ewan Pearson this is one to look out for. The future is also shaping up well with a string of releases in the pipeline’ expect to hear more from Chamboché as he blurs the lines between house and disco perfectly.
Kr0t00n
Debuting this month for Lost Dawn we welcome Kr0t00n, his sound has been best described as ‘get up and dance’ a sound which covers a host of genres guaranteed to make you strangely get up and dance helping to kick the night off in style.
Of course no Lost Dawn line-up would be complete without our Residents supplying party tunes with the melodic driving force that is ADAM SYMBIOSIS and our resident house-disco diva CRAIG GUNN.
